I will be recreating the game Tube Master (http://www.coolmath-games.com/0-tube-master) The objective of the game is to fill up the game board and connect all the colored tubes to their matching color. The characters of the game are the different color tubes. I will make the arrow keys and spacebar the controls for the characters. You win by connecting all the colored tubes to their same color while also filling up the game board. You lose by not filling up the board and connecting all the colors.

Donavaughn Baucom

To create our final project we will be using GameMaker. To create our sprites we will animate them using Adobe Fireworks. Our game will be based around a zombie apocalypse in a ruined city. The main character should be driving a car and killing zombies. For this week I will work on the game backgrounds and characters and Donavaughn will work on the game programming. Next week Donavaughn will be testing for bugs in the game and I will be finishing the soundtrack.

The final game that I will make with gamemaker will involve a runner. The runner will use a variety of vehicles to try to escape the pursuers. He will go from running a top buildings to running on the street and even through parks. The game will be a side scroller that only allows the character to only run sideways. I was thinking there would be 6 rooms with all different setting for him to run in. There will be a runner, a car, and a helicopter as characters to use to run away. There will be a constant tune playing in the background with the animated runner running and the helicopter blade spinning. The controls will be with the keyboard as the main control.

I am intending to work on the characters for a day and then the rooms for a day and then work on the point and health system for the rest of the time. I think I will be able to complete this game on time because I will work hard every day to try to get it done.

Sprite-The look of the character that can be used to create an object.

Object-A programable character that interacts with other objects in the game.

Room-The area where the character can move around and interact with other objects.

Event-Something done by the player that tells the game what to do.

Action-The movement or occasion that is caused by the player doing a certain event.

Variable-Keep track of something

What do you think will be the most useful actions on each of the Action tabs in Game Maker?

I think the setting score is important to Game Maker. I think it is important because it helps to keep the score of the game.

I also think the move tab is important because it is the navigation of the object. This is important because without it the objects can’t move.

I made 10 chagnes to the Street Racer program:

1. I changed the color of the lines on either side of the road.

2. I added a sidewalk to the side of the road.

3. I changed the dirt to grass next to the road.

4. I Changed the car to a sports car.

5. I changed the look of the gas can.

6. I changed the sound of the police siren.

7. I changed the background music.

8. I changed the sound of the gas.

9. I changed the sound of the horn.

10. I made the speed going left faster than the speed going right, similar to how I changed that the car accelerates faster than is goes backwards.

I expect this class to teach me a lot about programming things like websites and games. I am also expecting to have lots of fun when creating or programming the websites or games. I am expecting from what I’ve heard to be able to play other peoples games and help to critique them. I also heard we will collaborate with another classmate to create a game with them.

I would like to create a side scrolling game about trying to escape a city by running on top of building, driving cars, and flying different vehicles. I will have a background that appears to constantly move and it will have a city, park, and backgrounds that will correspond to where you’re running.

I would like to fully learn steps to create a game. Off the top of my head I can think of steps like programming, revising, and testing a game. I would also like to go more in depth with coding websites. I would also like to learn everything about software development that I didn’t mention before. I am very enthusiastic to learn the ins and outs of software engineering.
